Remote workshops that really hit the spot.

Physical collaboration has long been one of the key tools of design thinking, and we have long valued it as powerful way of extracting the maximum collaboration, creativity and results from a group. At Carleton workshops have always featured heavily in our innovation and problem-solving work, and we have always used experiential training methods to try and educate through doing, not telling. Due to COVID19 we have seen these practices challenged as our physical proximity is constrained; but in the same breath have seen that the world needs rapid innovation and prototyping skills and processes more than ever to adapt products and services to new demands and environments.

As a result, we have done a lot of work on creating practices, processes, and content, using the latest tools to facilitate completely remote collaborative workshops and training sessions. We started early with some of our remote clients and are constantly fine tuning our materials and practices based on every session we do. We have found that, with the right planning, tools and facilitation remote sessions can be just as effective as face to face – and even have some benefits over them for some organisational structures and challenges.

Video-conferencing and break-out sessions with Zoom. Miro for content, concept demonstrations and interactive exploration. Not familiar with Miro? Check out our Introduction to Miro for workshop participants and trainees.

Embracing the technology.

We’ve done the work, evaluating the tech, and figuring out what’s best. We use a combination of Zoom and Miro to create a collaborative environment for learning, workshopping or even training. We have delivered remote interactive sessions for Design Sprints, Business Planning, Brand and Communications, Sales Strategy and much more.

Guided and in control.

We will work with you to prepare all the content for the sessions, we create bespoke boards in Miro that support your workshop requirements or learning objectives. Better still we can guide and facilitate the whole session, supporting the team, ensuring everything goes to plan, and even documenting the outputs.

We have already had the opportunity to test and hone these techniques across a wide range of sessions with different kinds of clients and their teams, customers, and employees. Here are some examples:
